Damp Proofing
Rising Damp- Structural damp is the presence of unwanted moisture in the structure of a building, either the result of intrusion from outside or condensation from within the structure
Penetrating Damp – This the result of water infiltration through an external wall and into the property. It is a common cause of dampness that generally occurs within older buildings, but can occur in properties of any age..
Condensation Problems – Condensation moisture caused by everyday living. The result is an extremely underestimated cause of damage to our homes and is almost certainly the most common form of dampness within a building.
Do you have water collecting on your windows, sills, tiles and walls, black mould growth and musty smells? This will cause a huge problem with your Damp Proofing.
Dry Rot – This is one of the most damaging conditions you can get in a property. To expand dry rot needs moisture. The longer you leave it, the worse it can become with the unfortunate knock on effect of increasing the likely cost of dry rot treatment.
Plastering Services
Following the installation of a remedial damp proof course or sterilisation of Dry Rot, correctly re-plastering the area is essential. The plaster must be capable of holding back both salts found in the original mortar and salts from the ground brought up by any rising damp. If the plaster is not able to control these salts, they will migrate to the plaster surface, spoil the decoration and may cause damp patches to appear.
Crack repair
The most significant points of storm water in solid wall construction are cracks in the render or mortar joints. Even the smallest hairline crack can allow a surprising amount of water ingress. If the cracks are suitable for repair (subject to survey), we would utilise a resin injection system. Once the resin is set, the crack is filled on the face of the wall with a normal external filler.
